Change Dog Information
Q. How do I change the pet's status?

A. Login here. Click "My Pet(s)" in the top yellow menu bar, and the click on "Change Status" for the pet you wish to update.

Q. How do I change the pet's information?

A. Login here. Click "My Pet(s)" in the top yellow menu bar, and the click on "Edit" for the pet you wish to update.
Note: The only information that you will NOT be able to change is the pet's lost or found date. Whenever a pet's date is changed we need to rerun the Match program. You will need to notify us if you have entered an incorrect date for a pet.

Q. How do I change the phone number listed on my dog's page?

A. Login and change your phone number under: My Profile > Edit Profile
Or if you have listed a number in the pet's details section, select: My Pet(s) > Edit for the pet you wish to edit.

Email
Q. How do I contact someone who has listed a pet?

A. Go to the pet's web page and click on the blue "Email" button to send an email to the person that posted the pet.

Q. I emailed someone that posted a pet, but I haven't heard back from them.

A. Not everyone checks their email daily. Try to email them again. Post the pet with your contact number on the site. If you are sure you have found someone's pet and you do not hear back from them within 24 hours you can email Dog Detective and request that we try to contact them. Contact us and we will call them if they have given us a phone number.
NOTE: We do not release member's personal information under any circumstances.

Q. Why are pets listed that were lost years ago?

A. We never give up. It is not uncommon for a dog to be found up to two years after they went missing.

Q. How do I change my email address?

A. Login and select "My Profile" from the top menu then "Edit Profile".

Q. When I login, I see an "Invalid Email" warning. What does that mean?

A. An invalid email warning means that an email sent to your registered email address has been returned, telling us that your email is not valid. This may be a temporary problem or you may have entered your email address incorrectly. Please log in and go to the click on the link in the red email warning bar at the top of the page to verify your email address. If your email address is not correct, please enter a valid email address. If your email address is correct, please Notify Dog Detective.
Note: Even with an invalid email address you will not lose any matches or contacts - you can always view any and all correspondence by logging in and viewing Dog Match and Messages.

Q. How can I stop receiving email from Dog Detective?

A. Click on the "Unsubscribe" link in any of the emails from Dog Detective.

Q. How much does it cost to join?

A. Registration is FREE.

Q. Should I join Dog Detective if my pet isn't lost?

A. Yes! Because when and if your pet is ever lost; time is of the essence. If you have pre-registered with a picture, you simply activate the profile and your pet is added to the lost database immediately.

Q. How long will my pet's profile be available online?

A. Dog Detective will keep your pet's profile posted online until you delete it.

Photos


Q. How do I upload a photo?

A. To upload a photo, please login and select "Add/Change Photo" from the top yellow menu bar.

Q. How do I format a photo so that I can upload it?

A. Photos need to be no more than 300 pixels wide and .jpg or .jpeg format to be uploaded to the Dog Detective site. If you do not have a photo editor, we recommend the following programs:

Q. I don't have a scanner - can I upload a photo?

A. YES. Please take you photo to a local CVS or Wolf Camera and have it converted to digital format.

Q. Why is my photo is rejected - I know it's the right size?

A. Make sure that your photo has the correct extension - .jpg OR .jpeg are the only file types we allow.

Q. How do I update my dog's photo?

A. To submit a new photo simply upload the photo and we will replace the old photo with the new one.

A. NO. The only information we provide online is your pet's.
