Smitty, our schnauzer, wandered through the woods behind our home for 11 days to a home about 3.5 miles away. The homeowner saw him playing with her dog and was able to lure him to her patio with dog biscuits. She contacted her neighbor -who looked on the Dog Detective website, found a match and called our home. He has lost six pounds, is limping and was covered in ticks- but he has been checked out by our vet and should make a full recovery. We feel estatic and blessed. We thought he was gone for good. Thanks to a great neighbor and Dog Detective- you've made a beleiver out of me.

Our Boston Terrier took off without any ID whatsoever. Someone picked him up and took him to the Washington Co. shelter. The dog detective Alert that was sent to my local humane society was a big help! There was a mix up because she has a micro chip that I wasn't told about when I adopted her, so they called the old owner who surrendered her, but when they saw the Alert they knew it must be her and contacted me! :)

Lhasa Apso found two years after he went missing! Togo was found in Richmond Hill, Queens nearly 2 years after he was lost. He jumped out of a car window on 7/26/05 and was found in a private yard on or about 6/14/07. The family in whose yard he was found located me through dogdetective. I think this is a great idea! Even though our dog is well trained, there are times when one of us leaves the gate open, and she visits other dogs in the neighborhood. When that happens, everything else in the house stops until we find her. No question there is value in the service.
