Dog
has been reunited with his owner.
How:
"This dog had a rabies tag, but no other ID or chip; & the tag had no clinic ID or any way of tracing the tag to the owner. It had the vaccine manufacturers name (no phone #) tho. so I googled that company for a phone# & called Shering Plough Animal Health Corp. & got help finding the company they sold the rabies vaccine to, then googled that company's phone#, & they narrowed down who they sold the vaccine to in towns around my state. I called the vet in a town closest to mine (about an hour away), & found one that had a match to the rabies tag # & was given the wrong owners name. Called that vet clinic again, & they narrowed it down to anyone who got a shot on the same day as that wrong person. They thought they may have mixed up the tags with the shots. It worked. I didn't find the owner, but found a former owner who was able to contact the current owner & we had a HAPPY REUNION after almost 3 wks. of phone calls & relentless searching! It is possible-don't give up too soon! In 10 yrs. of returning lost dogs, I have a 100% return rate. The key is to keep trying. The longest I've had to take care of a dog is 3 wks. A small price to pay to keep them from harm or being put to sleep at a shelter."
